Sawing and repotting a large garden juniper

For your viewing pleasure, here's a photographic story of me breaking down a huge garden juniper and potting it late last year.

Sapporo for scale :)

Pretty gnarly trunk in there

Had to slice up the nursery pot to get it out

Taking a saw to the mass of roots

Finally got it split up!

This is the tree I've been waiting to grow!

Soil mix!

  • 1 part diatomaceous earth (NAPA oil dry)
  • 1 part crushed granite (chicken grit)
  • 1 part pine bark nuggets (sifted the dust and big chunks)
